چکیده

Sacrococcygeal pilonidal disease is a common inflammatory process affecting young adults. This is mostly seen in sacrococcygeal region. There are multiple factors, which can basically be divided into mainly two, as congenital (such as a result of fusion failure, deeper localized natal cleft) and acquired (such as local infection) factors1,8. Non-operative and operative strategies are mainly used in management. Local flap use is accepted as the favorite surgical closure method with high success rates, once the lesion is excised. On the other hand, surgical approach occasionally may fail and so several complications are seen such as infection, hemorrhage and flap dehiscence1,4. When a complication occurs, a precise wound care is needed to manage the wound properly. Herein we present a case with flap dehiscence and infection following a local flap closure in the management of a recurrence of a pilonidal disease usıng a negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT).

Negative Pressure Wound Therapy with Instillation in a Chronic Non-Healing Right Hip Trochanteric Pressure Ulcer

Complex pressure ulcer wound sites often present with a wide scope of barriers to healing ranging from high colonization of multi-drug-resistant pathogens to tortuous internal anatomy which make the wound recalcitrant to traditional wound care including standard negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT). Negative pressure wound therapy with instillation (NPWTi-d) provides an opportunity to manage ...

A New Procedure for Wrapped-Negative Pressure Wound Therapy for Congestion After Arterialized Venous Flap Surgery

Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is a method for treating wound. However, there are no case reports using NPWT for treating congestion after arterialized venous flap. Therefore, this study reported favorable outcomes after using a single-use NPWT system for managing congestion. A 39-year-old man had his index finger caught by a press machine. The finger had a soft tissue defect at the ven...

Application of negative pressure wound therapy in patients with wound dehiscence after abdominal open surgery: a single center experience

PURPOSE Since the 1990's, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) has been used to treat soft tissue defects, burn wounds, and to achieve skin graft fixation. In the field of abdominal surgery, the application of NPWT is increasing in cases with an open abdominal wound requiring temporary wound closure and a second look operation. In the present study, the authors analyzed patients that underwen...

Negative-pressure Wound Therapy in the Treatment of Complex Injuries after Total Knee Arthroplasty

OBJECTIVE To present an experience with negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT) in the treatment of surgical wounds in patients treated for infections after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with or without dehiscence and prophylaxis in wounds considered at risk of healing problems. METHODS We prospectively evaluated patients with TKA infection with or without surgical wound dehiscence and patient...
